In 2001, the Company merged with Continent Alışveriş Merkezleri Ticaret A.Ş., a company registered to the Istanbul Trade Registry Office under the registration number 285913/233495, through a takeover transaction in accordance with the provisions of Article 451 of the Turkish Commercial Code numbered 6762 and Articles 37 and 39 of the Corporate Tax Law. In May 2005, Gima and Endi companies were acquired through an acquisition operation. 

With this operation, 60,179% shares of Gima Gıda ve İhtiyaç Maddeleri T.A.Ş. ("Gima"), a publicly traded company, were purchased from Fiba Group and 5,150% shares were purchased from Borsa Istanbul A.Ş. ("Borsa Istanbul") through a tender offer with the approval of the Capital Markets Board of Turkey ("CMB"). At the end of the process, 65,329% of Gima shares were owned by CarrefourSA and the management of the company has changed hands. In order to create a simplified company structure and with the expectation to benefit more effectively from the cooperation and synergy arising from the merger of both companies, the Boards of Directors of CarrefourSA and Gima have decided to merge by transferring Gima to CarrefourSA in accordance with Article 451 of the Turkish Commercial Code numbered 6762 and Articles 37 and 39 of the Corporate Tax Law. The merger was approved at the Extraordinary General Meetings of both companies held on July 31, 2006.  

 
As a result of the merger, the trading of Gima A.Ş. shares was closed as of August 22, 2006 in accordance with the decision adopted by the Board of Directors of Borsa Istanbul at its meeting held on August 16, 2006; and as of August 24, 2006, the trading of CarrefourSA's Group A and Group B shares were opened with the codes "CARFA" and "CARFB" and started to be traded on Borsa Istanbul at an open price. With the decision taken at the Company's Extraordinary General Meeting held on July 27, 2015, the Company's Articles of Association was amended and the distinction between Group A and Group B shares was abolished.
